Family Fun in Magical Myrtle Beach

I finally took a day off from the 9-to-5 grind for some family fun at Myrtle Beach. No, we didn’t actually go to the “beach” for a beach day. Instead, we opted for an inexspensive family brunch at Spring House Family Resturaunt before we went on a “magical” shopping spree at Barefoot Landing. There, we looked for a few things to help Jonathan with his study of magic.

Jonathan took a fancy to learning card tricks several months ago and has become quite good at slight-of-hand card and coin magic. He seems to draw a crowd wherever he goes and has become bolder in talking to strangers and showing them his amazing feats!

He found some cool card decks and Tim found some good instructional DVDs to help him learn more about style and presentation! Kendra thinks she’s ready for a magic set of her own now!

We then moved on to Broadway at the Beach and another neat magic shop. Tim even found a couple of tricks he wants to work on. We all enjoyed talking with the shop owner and sharing tricks!

When we found there was not quite enough time for a trip through the museum before supper, Jonathan and I decided to climb a THREE story rope challenge, all suited up for repelling. There were gators in the water below! And we had to walk the gangplank on the third level! Arggh, Matey! We were able to master the challenges with time to spare, and didn’t lose any limbs to the gators in the process either!

Tim and Kendra took to the safer path. They opted for the park rides; merry-go-round, ferris wheel, battle planes, and bumper cars! Smiles for all!

Then, we moved on to the FUDGE shop! MMM MMM!! And ended up buying the special; B4-G2F. “3” Maple/nut for me, “2” Dark Choc w/ pecans for Tim and “1” Cookies n Cream for Kendra. As for Jonathan, he wasn’t interested in fudge. He was busy wowing the employees of the Olive Oil shop across the walkway with his “card magic”!

Then, it was off for an EXCELLENT pizza and toasted raviolis for supper. We finished eating; and off to the Magician’s Ring Meeting with Jonathan.

What a neat group of people the magicians all were; getting together and sharing the same interests! Everyone at the meeting was able to learn about the first zebras to do the high trapeze act! What fun! One old time “carney” magician performed an entire routine for the group. Then several others, including Jonathan (with his “ambitious” card routine), performed short single acts.

It was a full day of fun! The kids slept the last leg of our drive home. Too bad I had to be at work in the morning, but it didn’t stifle our outing a bit!

Time to plan our next adventure together!

Help us serve JESUS.
