Psalm 23

The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside quiet waters. He restores my soul;
He guides me in the paths of righteousness For His name’s sake.

Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I fear no evil, for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.

You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You have anointed my head with oil; My cup overflows. Surely goodness and lovingkindness will follow me all the days of my life,

And

I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

The secret of knowledge

Proverbs 1:7- “Fear of the Lord is the foundation of true knowledge,
but fools despise wisdom and discipline.”

Isn’t that simple?
The simplicity and straight talk in scripture is one of the most beautiful things on Earth!

It amazes me that so-called “Free-Thinkers” and open-minded people who claim to be enlightened, refuse to accept this very simple TRUTH!

Victorious Living through Jesus Christ

Our first study scripture will be in the Book of Matthew.  We will begin with chapter 5 and discuss the “Sermon on the Mount”…..

Matthew 5: 3-12

“God blesses those who are poor and realize their need for him, for the Kingdom of Heaven is theirs.  God blesses those who mourn, for they will be comforted.  God blesses those who are humble, for they will inherit the whole earth.  God blesses those who hunger and thirst for justice, they will be satisfied. God blesses those who are merciful, for they will be shown mercy. God blesses those whose hearts are pure, for they will see God.  God blesses those who work for peace, for they will be called the children of God.  God blesses those who are persecuted for doing right, for the Kingdom of Heaven is theirs. God blesses you when people mock you and persecute you and lie about yout and say all sorts of evil things against you because you are my followers.  Be happy about it! Be very glad! For a great reward awaits you in heaven. And remember, the ancient prophets were persecuted in the same way.”

Introduction to “Victorious Living”

This “Study” guide is designed to take the reader through a tour of the New Testament.  By following along and focusing on some “key” scriptures, the reader should learn what it means to “TRULY” follow Jesus as a “Disciple” (aka STUDENT) of CHRIST.
It is hoped that “Disciples” who follow this study guide will learn; “What is the TRUE key to a “Victorious” life in JESUS?”  As students begin to understand they are in fact, “Disciples of CHRIST” they should grow in their “faith” and be encouraged that JESUS-the-Christ is “their” victory.

How to use this “Study Guide”:

A. Ask yourself some “Life” Questions-

  • Why do I desire more victory in my life?
  • Are my motives pure before GOD?
  • Do I really desire to live in the “good”, “pleasing”, and “perfect” will of GOD?
  • Am I willing to do whatever it takes to live the life God has called me to live?
  • Am I willing to Repent, Change my carnal Habits and Attitudes, and Offer myself as a “Living Sacrifice” pleasing to HIM?

B. Victorious Living Points to Ponder:

There are THREE Primary Focus Points of “Victorious Living” BIBLE Study:

1. Life Questions– Search for Scriptures that define, direct, describe, or differentiate “HOLY SPIRIT” filled Christian Living – versus – life according to our “OLD” sin nature.

2. Divine Discoveries- Search for Scriptures that speak to us about the blessings and power of obedient, “SPIRIT” filled living as opposed to problems associated with a disobedient, old, carnal self lifestyle.

3. Life Challenges- search your HEART and EXAMINE yourself for “SPECIFIC” ways you can apply “Life Questions” and “Divine Discoveries” to your life.

C. Lesson Example: Scripture Texts – Rom.3:21-26, 5:1-11, 8:1-18

1. Life Questions

  • Does righteousness by “faith” nullify the “LAW”?
  • Should Christians uphold the “LAW”?

2. Divine Discoveries

  • Name the benefits of suffering as we grow in CHRIST.
  • What does it mean to live according to the “SPIRIT”?
  • Name 5 benefits of life through the “SPIRIT”.

3. Life Challenges-

  • Discuss how these benefits affect you personally.
  • Discuss some “practical living” differences between living according to our “OLD” sin nature and life according to the SPIRIT.
  • Relate them to your life “particularly”.

IMPORTANT note to REMEMBER:
The point of this “study” is “SPIRITUAL” growth and encouragement and not just academic knowledge.  Depending on student “needs”, some
“supplemental” lessons may be required.
